In light of the upcoming veterans day, I searched for a place that encompassed Veterans and their dogs. After reading so much about how dogs help people overcome emotional obstacles and how pets can lengthen your life, I knew there had to be a place for Veterans to feel the same kind of bond as they recover. That place is Patriot PAWS.
"Patriot PAWS trains and provides service dogs for the benefit of disabled American Veterans in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence, and to provide a service for other American’s with mobile disabilities."

At Patriot PAWS they train dogs to be service dogs for veterans including these amazing tasks: getting help in emergencies, open/close doors, pull wheelchairs, provide bracing so people can stand up from a sitting position, help with laundry, taking off shoes/socks, and so much more. What I love, is that these dogs are selected from Humane Societies, shelters, rescues and also service dog breeders. Giving chances to dogs that were in need of a home and training them to show their full potential is inspirational. It does cost roughly $20,000 to train a service dog and this is a non-profit organization. The next time that you are donating a portion of your sales, Patriot PAWS is another great option.
